Biography:
Armands Skele is an athletic high scoring shooting guard, with a good instinct for the offensive rebound and is a good player in defense.
Despite his youth (born 1983), he is a veteran in European competitions, and this season has averaged 11.3 points and 4 rebounds in Barons Riga in the Eurocup, playing against Dynamo Moscow and Unics Kazan.
He is an international with the Latvia National Team since he was U16 and in the Eurobasket 2007 played in Spain finishing with 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game. In the game against the host Spanish National Team he was the best of his team with 16 points and 3 assists along with Andris Biedrins (Golden State Warriors NBA).
This year has been the definitive confirmation of Skele, which led to some interest from NBA teams as his skills allow him to defend the best team in the field. He was named MVP of the 2008 Baltic League, won the FIBA Europe Cup, and played the All Star game of the competition. He was also named best shooting guard, MVP and the best defensive player in the Baltic League.
The ACB League may be the next challenge for a player who appears to meet all the requirements to play in the second best league in the world.
